Alcohol Related Offences

(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) Between Saturday night and Sunday morning February 8th and 9th 2014, Perth County Ontario Police (OPP) officers in West Perth stopped a large number of drivers during their regular patrols and at RIDE checks. They discovered two alcohol related driving offences.

Shortly before 11 p.m. on Saturday night, a car was stopped on Perth Road 180 West of Brodhagen for a traffic violation. The driver of the car was administered a roadside breath test which resulted in a blood alcohol concentration reading between .05 and .08 The 41 year old male driver from Huron Kinloss Twp lost his licence for three days.

Shortly before 2 a.m. on Sunday morning, a Dodge pickup truck was stopped for a Highway Traffic Act violation on Line 21 near Cromarty. While the officer was speaking to the driver, a 16 year old male passenger in the vehicle was found to be in possession of several bottles of beer. The youth was charged with “person under 19 years having liquor”. In addition to receiving a ticket, his beer was seized.
