INVESTIGATION LEADS TO WEAPON CHARGES

(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON.) – Members of the Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a youth with several criminal offences. The charges stem from the investigation into a person reported in attendance at a hockey game at the Joe Mavrinac Community Complex located on Allen Avenue was in possession of a weapon. Subsequently seized as a result of the investigation was an air pistol and cocaine. The accused was arrested at the scene without incident. The incident occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. on February 7, 2014.

The youth has been charged with Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Threatening and Trafficking in a Controlled Substance. The youth who cannot be identified due to provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act is scheduled to appear at the Youth Justice Court in Kirkland Lake on March 6, 2014.
