On the 14th of February 2014, at approximately 1pm, Barrie Police responded to a domestic Disturbance in the cities central area. When police responded it was discovered that the two parties had been involved in a heated Valentine’s day argument. No criminal offences had taken place but it was in both parties best interest that the male and female spend the afternoon apart to avoid any further conflict as the male was extremely intoxicated.
The female agreed to leave the residence and spend the afternoon at a friend’s. As police walked out of the front of the residence with the female to escort her to a friends, the intoxicated male assumed she was being arrested and became irate with police. Officers attempted to explain to the male that she was not being arrested but the male continued his aggression towards the police officers. The male than attempted to attack the officer and engage in a fight. The officers quickly responded and arrested the male for assault police.
The male was held in police custody and later released with a court date for the end of March.
