(SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ON) – Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is reminding shoppers to always keep an eye on their belongings to avoid becoming a victim of theft. This reminder comes after police were called to investigate a theft occurrence at the local grocery store in Glencoe.
On February 16, 2014 sometime between 3:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. a female was shopping at the No Frills grocery store on Main Street in the Municipality of Southwest Middlesex. She paid for her items and after she was done bagging her groceries, it was soon discovered her purse was missing. The purse was later found in the store but a quantity of cash was stolen from it.
Middlesex County OPP Constable Laurie Houghton advises, “It is a common occurrence. Purses are often left in the carts or over the shoulders of shoppers wide open with their wallets plainly visible to others. All it takes is a quick distraction and your wallet or purse is gone before you know it. It is important to always be aware of where your valuables are and keep them out of reach of others.â€Â
