(Bancroft, Ontario) – On Thursday the 20th of February 2014, the Bancroft detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received the report of an assault that occurred in the Town of Bancroft. Investigation into the incident revealed that an adult male had physically assaulted an adult female. During the investigation it was also determined by police that the involved male had 2 firearms that went missing and he did not report it to police.
A 47 year male of Bancroft, Ontario was arrested and has been charged with assault (2 counts) and lost firearm not reported (2 counts). The male was held in custody pending a bail hearing on Friday the 21st of February 2014 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville, Ontario.
The incident is a domestic investigation and the name of the accused is not being released to protect the identity of the victim.
