(Alfred-Plantagenet, ON) On February 22nd, 2014 at approximately 8:30 pm, Constable Pascal Boudreau observed a green Artic Cat Off road Vehicle with 3 passengers onboard travelling on Water street. The 4 wheeler drove through an intersection without stopping at the stop-sign. Constable Boudreau tried to stop the Off Road Vehicle activating his emergency lights and the driver looked at the officer and he turned at the intersection of Main Street and Rue de l’Église without completing a second stop.
The 4 wheeler eventually was stopped on Concession Street. The driver was consequently arrested for fail to stop. The investigation revealed that the driver had a suspended driver’s licence, had no permit for the Off Road Vehicle and no insurance.
Stéphane DION (29 yrs) of Plantagenet was charged under the Highway Traffic Act for the following infractions:
– Section 53(1) Drive while under suspension
– Section 216(3) Escape by flight, wilfully engaging in a police pursuit
– Regulation 316 Section 17 Drive Off Road Vehicle – No insurance
– Regulation 316 Section 2 Unlawfully drive off road vehicle on highway
He was also charged under the Off Road Vehicle Act for the following infractions:
– Section 3(1) Drive Off Road Vehicle no permit
– Section 8(2) Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner
