(HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, ON) – On Thursday February 27, 2014 at approximately 6:16 pm Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were notified of a single motor vehicle rollover collision on Highway 401 eastbound west of Burnham Street in Hamilton Township.
OPP members responded to the location and found a 2001 black Mazda Protégé on fire. Witnesses on scene indicated a lone male was observed leaving the scene on foot in a southbound direction. Officers located the male a short distance away at a local business.
The male was arrested as OPP officers continued with the investigation.
Brandon Fernando Novais TOBIN, age 20 from Toronto has been charged with the following offences:
Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle – Criminal Code
Possession of a Schedule ll substance – cannabis marihuana – Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Six additional charges under other provincial statutes.
The accused was released on a promise to appear for the criminal offences and summonses for the provincial offences to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on Wednesday March 19, 2014 at 9:30 am in Cobourg, Ontario.
