Who to call if you lose your passport

Guelph Police would like to remind the public about a change in reporting lost Canadian passports.

As of March 1, 2014, citizens who lose their Canadian passport in Canada are asked not to call police to report the missing document. Instead, please call Passport Canada directly at 1-800-567-6868. (If you are outside of the country you must report it to the nearest Government of Canada office abroad.)

In the past, citizens were encouraged to report such a loss to their local police as well as Passport Canada. This change is meant to reduce duplication when making these reports.

This change is only for lost passports. If your passport is stolen, please attend the Guelph Police Service to report the crime and then call Passport Canada at 1-800-567-6868.
