Man Charged Following a Traffic Stop

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man for driving while suspended and failing to comply.

The man is currently bound by several conditions stating that he is not to have care or control of a motor vehicle, not to possess, ingest or inject any drug or controlled substance and not to possess any drug paraphernalia. The man is also prohibited from driving due to unpaid fines.

Last night around 7:30 p.m. an officer on general patrol was driving southbound on Fargo Road when a silver Honda Civic passed him going northbound. The officer recognized the driver and knew that his driving privileges were suspended. The officer turned around and initiated a traffic stop.

The 38-year-old Chatham man was arrested for driving while under suspension. Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in drug possession. He was additionally charged with three counts of failing to comply with his release conditions. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
