(WARWICK TOWNSHIP, ON) – On March 9, 2014 at around 9:30 p.m., Lambton County Ontario Police (OPP) officers were conducting speed enforcement on Highway 402 in Warwick Township. A westbound Mitsubishi entered the radar at a speed that was more than 50 kilometres per hour over the posted 100 kilometres per hour posted speed limit. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle but it fled from police and continued to travel westbound on Highway 402. The vehicle eventually stopped in the area of Mandaumin Road.
The driver was arrested and during a subsequent search of the driver and the vehicle, 19 Fentanyl patches, an undisclosed amount of Canadian cash and a stolen licence plate were seized. The estimated street value of the Fentanyl patches is $4700.
The driver, 20 year old Ryan BARR who is from Sarnia, has been remanded into custody and will appear in a Sarnia court at a later time to speak to the following charges under the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC):
Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
Flight from police.
Possession of stolen property under $5000.
Breach of probation. (2 Counts).
Possession of property obtained by crime.
He will also speak to a charge of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA), and a stunt driving charge under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).
