(CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP, ON) – On March 8, 2014 at approximately 8:45 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting moving radar and monitoring traffic on Highway 6 near the Second Line of Nichol in Centre Wellington Twp.
At this time and location police observed two motor vehicles travelling north bound on Highway 6 at an extremely high rate of speed in lane one and lane two. Police clocked vehicle one, a Dodge Ram pick-up truck on radar at 157 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. Vehicle two, a Volkswagon Jetta was clocked on radar at 143 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. Both vehicles were stopped just outside the Town of Fergus. Both drivers’ licences were suspended and vehicles seized for seven days as per statute.
Adam Pilon age 23 of Wellington North Township has been charged with Race Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial court on April 16, 2014 to answer to the charge.
David Townsend age 37 of Centre Wellington Twp. has been charged with Race Motor Vehicle contrary the Highway Traffic Act. He is also scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial court to answer to the charge.
