OPP INVESTIGATE BREAK AND ENTER

(ALNWICK-HALDIMAND TWP, ON) – On Tuesday March 11, 2014 Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a break, enter and theft to a garage that occurred in the previous two weeks were a quantity of tools were stolen.

OPP were notified by the victim that in December 2013 he was a victim of a house fire on School House Road in Alnwick Haldimand Township and that he had tools that were being stored in an unattached garage that was not affected by the fire. He had previously reported to OPP a theft from the same garage about one week after the fire. The victim had improved the security to the garage after this incident. He had periodically checked the property with the last time being in late February 2014 and found it secured. On March 11, 2014 the victim went back to check on his property when he found that the lock and locking mechanism were gone and his tools had been stolen.

Two DeWalt table saws, a table planer, DeWalt router and drill press with drill press bits and two DeWalt cordless drills were among the various items stolen. The estimated value is $5, 350. OPP are continuing to investigate.
