MIDDLESEX OPP DEALING WITH THE AFTERMATH

(MIDDLESEX COUNTY, ON) – Don’t let the sunshine fool you. The roads are still extremely icy and drivers need to slow down and stay focused. Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is reminding driver’s that now is not the time to catch up on time lost from yesterday’s snowfall. Motorists need to drive well below the posted speed limit and leave lots of space to ensure a safe drive.

Emergency crews and tow operators will be extremely busy towing the many vehicles out of the ditch from drivers who failed to heed the numerous warnings yesterday. In addition, they are currently dealing with numerous collisions today as drivers continue to drive way too fast for the road conditions. As a result, drivers can expect various delays throughout Middlesex County. They need to stay extremely focused and leave room for emergency vehicles as they deal with the aftermath from yesterday’s storm.

“People are getting hurt, lives are being put on the line and numerous vehicles are being damaged all because drivers are in too much of a hurry or distracted on tasks other than what is most important and that is driving safely. Put your phones away, buckle up, top up your fluids, clear all the snow and ice off your vehicle, get yourself in the right frame of mind and slow down. If you can’t manage all of that then perhaps now is not the time to head out on the highway.” advises Middlesex County OPP Provincial Constable Laurie Houghton.
