OPP ASKING MOTORISTS TO REFRAIN FROM CALLING THE PROVINCIAL COMMUNICATIONS CENTRE FOR TOW REQUESTS

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On March 12, 2014, Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a large number of vehicles in the ditch and collisions along Highway 401 and Highway 40, as a result of the winter snow storm that rolled through our area.

Chatham-Kent OPP will not be removing vehicles from the ditch until such time as it is safe to do so, and will continue to re-assess as road conditions improve.

Chatham-Kent OPP is asking motorists to refrain from contacting the Provincial Communications Centre for tow information.

Chatham-Kent OPP has the contact information of the drivers whose vehicles are in the ditch. Chatham-Kent OPP will be contacting the drivers to provide them with details for the removal of their vehicles as they become available.

Chatham-Kent OPP is urging motorists to continue to exercise caution, as both Highway 401 and Highway 40 are still experiencing icy road conditions, with some bare and wet patches.
