(THUNDER BAY, ON) On Wednesday, March 19 2014, officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to several motor vehicle collisions.
At approximately 7:34 am, officers responded to a collision on Highway 11/17, east of Mapleward Road. The driver of a Nissan Murano was west bound when she lost control of the vehicle, rolled the vehicle, and came to a stop in the east bound ditch. The female driver was transported to hospital by ambulance with non life threatening injuries. There were no other occupants in the vehicle. The vehicle sustained extensive damage.
At approximately 8:45 am, officers responded to a collision on Highway 61 between Arthur Street and the Harbour Expressway. The driver of a Nissan Pathfinder was north bound on Highway 61 when she lost control of her vehicle, struck a light post standard and came to a stop in the north bound ditch. Thunder Bay Fire Department attended the scene and extricated the driver. The female driver was transported to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries. There were no other occupants in the vehicle. The vehicle sustained extensive damage.
At approximately 10:15 am, Officers responded to a two vehicle collision on Highway 527, approximately 35 kilometres north of Highway 11/17.
The driver of a south bound Dodge truck lost control of the vehicle, crossed over the centre line and collided with a north bound GMC Sierra. There were no injuries reported. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage.
Although spring is just around the corner, winter driving conditions are prevailing.
OPP want to remind the public to slow down and drive with caution. Allow yourself more braking distance and more time to arrive at your destination.
