UPDATE REGARDING FATAL HOUSE FIRE – Deceased Still to be Identified

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – On March 10, 2014 at approximately 7:50 a.m. an OPP officer was on patrol when smoke was observed, causing the officer concerns regarding the origins of the smoke. The officer discovered that a single residential home was on fire.

The Fire Marshal attended the scene and during the investigation human remains were discovered. An autopsy was performed on Thursday, March 13, 2014. A positive identification of the deceased will require 45-90 days to obtain. This remains a coroner’s case in which the OPP will continue to provide assistance as required.

The Fire Marshall indicated that there was nothing suspicious regarding the cause of the fire.
