(CALEDON, ON) – On April 5, 2014 at approximately 2:30 am, an officer from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was patrolling the Village of Bolton. The officer observed a blue Volkswagen on Leavens Court and noticed the vehicle hit the curb and then drove over the curb. The officer activated the cruiser’s emergency equipment and the driver entered a private driveway. The officer approached the stopped vehicle to check on the driver’s sobriety.
The officer immediately detected a strong odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath and a slow reactionary time when asked to produce documents. As a result, the male was arrested for impaired operation and transported to Detachment for testing.
As a result, Daniel Ronald PILON, 22, of Toronto was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Over 80.
The Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The accused is scheduled to make his first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville at a later date.
If you suspect that someone is driving or is about to drive impaired, call 9-1-1 and report it immediately. If you see that someone is impaired and intends on driving, do not let them get behind the wheel of a vehicle.
