(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – On April 19, 2014 an officer from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on patrol on Kirkfield Road, south of Sebright when several dogs were observed chasing some deer.
The officers’ attention was drawn to the situation as the first deer ran across the highway and was almost struck by a passing motorist. As a result of the observation, the officer initiated an investigation and was able to determine who owned the dogs.
As a result of the investigation Garnet BLACK, 50 years of age, of Sebright, was charged with permitting dog to be at large during closed season, contrary to the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act. The accused faces a fine of $195.00.
