FIREARM &DRUGS SEIZED AT TRAFFIC STOP

(BRIGHTON, ON) – On Saturday April 26, 2014 Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) located a motor vehicle that was subject of a traffic complaint eastbound on Highway 401 from Cobourg.

The suspect vehicle, a 1998 red Toyota Camry with a licence plate from Quebec was reported travelling eastbound on the 401, speeding and driving in an erratic manner when it was located at approximately 10:27 pm and stopped by OPP just west of County Road 30 in the Municipality of Brighton.

The officers entered into an investigation regarding the lone male driver and found evidence of drugs and other paraphernalia in the vehicle. The male was arrested and searched as a result of this arrest.

While searching the male, OPP found a loaded 9 mm semi-automatic AMRI Fratelli hand gun in his pants pocket. The magazine held 11 rounds of ammunition. OPP also found on him a quantity of crystal methamphetamine; Canadian and American currency totalling $3,000; small quantities of pills believed to be heroin. A search of the vehicle found drug related paraphernalia; another small quantity of pills believed to be cocaine and a 5500K Volt stun gun. The estimated street value of this drug seizure has not been determined at this time.

Kit Sen CHOU, 51 from Brossard, Quebec has charged with nine (9) firearms related offences under the Criminal Code and four (4) drug related charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. The accused has been held for a bail hearing on Monday April 28, 2014 at 1:30 pm in the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.
