(COLLINGWOOD, ON.) – On April 28th, 2014 at approximately 3:15 p.m., members of the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Collingwood Fire Department and the Simcoe County Paramedic Service responded to a motor vehicle collision (MVC) involving an automobile and a bicycle on Maple Street in the Town of Collingwood.
A further OPP investigation with the assistance of Central Region OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Unit (T.T.C.I.) revealed that a Ford motor vehicle operated by an 81 year old male from Collingwood was south bound on Maple Street and stopped at the Third Street intersection. He then travelled south bound again through the intersection. A 5 year old male on the opposite side of the intersection on his bicycle was crossing from west to east and was struck by this motor vehicle.
This 5 year old male from Collingwood was transported to Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation into this MVC is ongoing with the assistance of Central Region T.T.C.I. Unit.
