(HUNTSVILLE, ON) On July 3, 2014 just after midnight officers of the Huntsville Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment observed a male drinking alcohol on Main St. in the town of Huntsville. Officers stopped to speak to the male about the alcohol and he refused to tell the officer his name then ran from the police.
A short foot chase led to the arrest of Jonathan J. SMITH (22yrs) of Huntsville Ont. He was later charged of having open liquor in other than licenced premises under the Liquor Licence Act, Possession of a Schedule II drug believed to be marihuana under the Controlled Drug and Substances act and Resist Peace Officer, under the Criminal Code of Canada.
The accused was released and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Huntsville on August 6, 2014.
