(CALEDON, ON) – On July 6th 2014 shortly before 12:30 am, officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a R.I.D.E. (Reducing Impaired Driving Everywhere) check program at the intersection of Airport Road and Cranston Drive. Officers observed a white Honda Accord travelling southbound on Airport Road and officers approached the vehicle to check on the driver’s sobriety. The vehicle was operated by a male driver accompanied by 4 passengers. .
While speaking with the driver and the occupants, the officers noticed alcohol inside the motor vehicle, readily available to the driver for consumption. Subsequently, the officer requested the male driver accompany him to the marked cruiser for the purpose of issuance of a Provincial Offences Notice under the Liquor Licence Act. During the course of the investigation, the officers learned that the driver was disqualified from driving from a previous conviction.
In conclusion, Jason RAMSAROOP, 23 from Brampton was arrested and charged with Driving While Disqualified and faces a Liquor Licence Act charge of Driving Motor Vehicle with Liquor Readily Available.
The accused is scheduled to make his first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on July 31, 2014.
