(SMITH FALLS, ON) – A member of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) from East Region has been charged following an investigation by the members of the OPP Professional Standards Bureau.
The investigation was initiated on June 22, 2014 as a result of an incident which occurred at the Walmart in Carleton Place where the accused was arrested for a theft under $5,000. As a result of the investigation a 13 year member from the Ottawa Detachment has been charged. He was not on duty at the time of the incident.
Provincial Constable Dennis HILL, age 37, has been charged with one count of Theft Under $5000 and one count of resist arrest.
The accused who is currently on leave will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on August 18, 2014.
