(LONDON, ON) – A driver has been charged under the stunt drive legislation and his vehicle has been impounded for seven days for driving too fast. On July 19, 2014 at approximately 6:12 p.m. an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) West Region Highway Safety Division (HSD) officer was on patrol on Highway 401 by Highbury Avenue in the City of London, ON when a vehicle was observed travelling at a high rate of speed. The officer measured the vehicle travelling in excess of 150 km/h in a posted 100 km/h zone.
The officer stopped the vehicle and as a result of the investigation, the male driver, Ali JABER, age 28 of Mississauga, ON was charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to Section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act. His licence has been suspended and his vehicle has been impounded for seven days. The accused is scheduled to appear in a London courtroom August 25, 2014 to speak to the charge.
