(Selwyn Township, ON) – On July 21st, 2014 Philip KIMBALL a former resident of Selwyn Township, received the Ontario Provincial Police, Commissioner’s Citation for Bravery and lifesaving. The award was presented to him in person at Peterborough County OPP Detachment by the Detachment Commander, Sergeant Major Jeff VIBERT.
On January 31st 2013 at approximately 11:53 am Kimball was in attendance at a Selwyn address when he encountered a male who was in obvious life threatening distress. Kimball immediately took the initiative to assist the male, and remove the victim from danger. He then preformed life saving measures and ensure the male was breathing. Kimball was able to call for medical assistance and remained with the victim until emergency personnel arrived.
Due to his quick actions and forethought Philip KIMBALL saved the life of the male. His award was to be presented to him on an earlier date however he had left the Peterborough Area due to employment.
