(ESSEX COUNTY, ON) –The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Essex County arrested and charged 6 people over the holiday weekend, with alcohol related driving offences.
On August 1, 2014 at approximately 2:45 p.m., officers responded to a collision at the intersection of Essex County Road 46 and Essex County Road 19 in Tecumseh. One vehicle involved had left the scene but was stopped a short distance from the crash site.
The driver of the vehicle exhibited signs of impairment and was arrested at the scene. Richard DOYSCHER, age 55 of Windsor, was charged with Exceed 80 Milligrams of Blood Alcohol Content. He will appear in a Windsor Court on August 12, 2014. There were no injuries as a result of the crash.
Later that same day, at approximately 6:40 p.m., OPP officers received a report of an erratic driver travelling eastbound on Riverside Drive from Windsor approaching the Town of Tecumseh. The driver stopped at a convenience store and surrendered his keys to the employee who contacted police.
Mark KARCH, age 50 of Tecumseh, was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Exceed 80 Milligrams of Blood Alcohol Content. He will appear in a Windsor court on August 13, 2014.
On August 3, 2014, just after midnight, officers in Leamington received a report of a vehicle that had struck a house on Bruce Avenue in Leamington. No one was injured in the crash.
The driver of the vehicle exhibited signs of impairment and was arrested at the scene.
Scott SCHMIDT, age 31 of Leamington, was charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Exceed 80 Milligrams of Blood Alcohol Content. He will appear in a Leamington court on August 21, 2014.
Just after midnight in Essex that same date, officers stopped a vehicle for speeding on Maidstone Avenue. The driver of the vehicle exhibited signs of impairment and was arrested at the scene. Michael DRAKE, age 40 of Essex, was charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Exceed 80 Milligrams of Blood Alcohol Content. He will appear in a Windsor court on August 19, 2014.
On August 3, 2014, just after 2:00 a.m., officers in Harrow located a male slumped behind the wheel of his vehicle on King Street West in Harrow.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested and charged with Having Care or Control While Impaired and Having Care or Control-Exceed 80 Milligrams of Blood Alcohol Content. Jacob HAEUSSLER, age 19, of Essex will appear in a Windsor court on August 13, 2014.
At approximately 4:40 p.m., that same day, officers in Leamington pulled over a vehicle on Conover Avenue. The driver exhibited signs of impairment and was arrested and charged. Alfred KETTLE, age 58 of Leamington was charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Exceed 80 Milligrams of Blood Alcohol Content. He will appear in a Leamington court on August 21, 2014.
