(POWASSAN, ON) – The Powassan Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a single motor vehicle collision that happened on Highway 11, South Himsworth Township on August 4, 2014 at approximately 9:48 p.m..
The vehicle, a 2003 Toyota, was southbound on Highway 11 when the driver lost control of the vehicle in the heavy rain. The vehicle left the roadway, striking a light standard.
Powassan Fire Department used the Jaws of Life to extricate two people from the vehicle. The driver sustained life threatening injuries and the passenger sustained serious injuries. Both parties were transported to hospital by ambulance.
Northeast Region OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators were dispatched to assist Powassan OPP in this extensive investigation.
Other emergency services that responded to the collision were the Callander Fire Department.
