MALE STRUCK BY TREE TAKEN TO HOSPITAL

(TOWNSHIP OF SOUTHGATE, ON) – On Monday, August 11, 2014 at approximately 5:30 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an injured male after he had been struck by a tree while working at a rural property on Grey Rd. 14 in the Township of Southgate.

The victim was operating an excavator when he exited the equipment and was accidently struck by a tree that was being moved by another excavator operator who did not see the man.

The victim, age 65, from Elmira, Ontario, was taken via air ambulance to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Ministry of Labour was contacted.
