LIVESTOCK AT LARGE MAY RESULT IN CHARGES

(CITY OF TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) The Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is enforcing The Highway Improvement Act when referring to horses, cattle, and more on the highway.

Police have responded to several calls in the area where animals have been running at large. Owners having the control of horses, cattle, swine, sheep or goats and permits those to run at large within the limits of the King’s Highway are guilty of an offence under this Act as well they can be held civilly liable for damages that incur from their animals being off their property.

Please assure your property and boundaries are secure for your livestock. They should be enclosed or in direct or continuous charge by a person. This assures their safety and the safety of motorists.
