NO LIFE JACKET

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – The marine unit from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continues to patrol our waterways in an effort to ensure the safety of everyone using them.

On September 1, 2014 an officer checked a vessel on Sturgeon Lake and discovered that there was open alcohol on board and no life jacket available.

As a result of the investigation the vessel operator, Tu NGUYEN, 33 years of age, of Mississauga, was charged with having open liquor, contrary to the Liquor Licence Act and with failing to have a life jacket, contrary to the Canada Shipping Act.
