LONG WEEKEND TRAFFIC WRAP UP

(NORTH BAY, ON) – This year’s Labour Day Long Weekend has concluded. While the majority of drivers are driving accordingly, there continues to be drivers who are not getting the message about Drinking and Driving, Speeding and Distracted Driving.

Members of the North Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed a Traffic Safety Plan this weekend with the purpose of keeping our area highways a safer place by increased visibility and directed enforcement.

Detachment members focused patrols to highway traffic safety this long weekend resulting in 54 speeding charges- 1 to 49 km/h over the posted speed limit, 3 stunt driving offences-50 km/h and over the posted speed limit, 2 seatbelt, 14 other Provincial offences, 3 Impaired drivers and 2 other drivers receiving a 3 day licence suspension for registering a warn on the Roadside Screening Device
