(New Tecumseth Township, ON) The Nottawasaga Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is urging motorists to be aware and vigilant when travelling during school hours and in particular around locations of school crossing guards. Also do not park and idle their vehicles on Church Street North, Oak Street and Grey Avenue during school hours. The vehicles parked on those streets hinder the visibility for the crossing guards, and other motorists while children are making their way to school.
Drivers who fail to obey a school crossing stop sign can be fined $180 and accumulate 4 demerit points, when charged under the Highway Traffic Act. Please drive safely, and always be vigilant during school hours.
