ANOTHER IMPAIRED DRIVER VEHICLE COLLISION

(Essa Township, ON) On Sunday the 21st of September 2014 at 1:30 a.m. officers from the Nottawasaga Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Preston and Smith Street in the Town of Alliston.

When officers arrived and discovered the driver, 19-year old Alexander MCFADDEN he was arrested and charged with Over 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood contrary to Section 253(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on the 16th of October 2014 in Bradford Provincial Court in answer to his charge.

Impaired driving remains the leading cause of criminal death in Canada. If you plan on drinking, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi, stay overnight or take public transit.

The Nottawasaga OPP conducted several R.I.D.E.(Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) spot checks over this past weekend throughout New Tecumseth, Adjala-Tosorontio and Essa Townships. As a result officers checked just fewer than 200 drivers for sobriety. The R.I.D.E spot check initiative is not only conducted during holiday seasons, but throughout the year by the Nottawasaga OPP.
