(MAPLETON TOWNSHIP, ON) -On September 20, 2014 at approximately 9:20 a.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was patrolling Wellington Road 7 near Wellington Road 12, Mapleton Township and observed a northbound 1999 GMC pickup truck at a high rate of speed. The male driver was locked on radar travelling at 151 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.
His driver’s licence and vehicle were seized for a period of 7 days as per statute.
Jason MELMER age 32 of Chesley, is charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He is to appear in Guelph Court on November 19, 2014 to answer to the charge
