PEDESTRIAN COLLISION DECEASED IDENTIFIED

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON.) – Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County detachment is continues to investigate a pedestrian vs vehicle collision at an Indian Line, Haldimand County, ON address.

On Sunday September 28th, 2014 at approximately 6:40 pm Emergency Services attended the collision to find a deceased female and a vehicle on its side in the ditch.

The investigation has revealed that a grey 2004 Pontiac car being operated by 40 Melissa WILLIAMS of Haldimand County, ON was travelling eastbound on the Indian Line when it travelled off the paved portion of the roadway. The vehicle came back onto the road crossed to the north side and struck two of four pedestrians that were walking eastbound along the shoulder.

As a result of the collision a female pedestrian identified as 31 year old Amanda JACOBS of Pic Mobert First Nation sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the attending Coroner.

A male pedestrian identified as 31 year old Tony METATWABIN of Toronto, ON sustained non – life threatening injuries and was transported to hospital after receiving emergency medical aid from Haldimand County paramedics.

The other two pedestrians and the female driver were not physically injured during the collision.

Haldimand County Fire Department assisted with the injured and stabilized the involved vehicle.

OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are assisting with the collision.

Indian Line was closed to through traffic to allow for investigation for approximately 5 ½ hours.
