(SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ON) – One male is deceased and a second male has been transported to hospital following a single vehicle rollover collision on Knapdale Drive, west of Pratt Siding Road, in the Municipality of Southwest Middlesex.
On September 29, 2014 at approximately 10:24 a.m. the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the Southwest Middlesex Fire Department, and Thames Emergency Medical Services (EMS), responded to a report of a single vehicle collision. When emergency crews arrived, they discovered one male had succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation has revealed that a black Ford pickup truck, with two occupants, had been travelling westbound on Knapdale Road. It left the roadway for yet-to-be-determined reasons, and struck the south side ditch. The vehicle rolled and came to rest on its tires, on the north side of the roadway.
The 27 year old male passenger, from Southwest Middlesex, Ontario, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 29 year old male driver, from Southwest Middlesex, Ontario, suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The identity of the deceased is being with-held pending notification of next of kin.
The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation (TTCI) Team is assisting with the investigation.
Police have closed Knapdale Drive between Big Bend Road and Pratt Siding Road, as they complete their investigation. Motorists are asked to avoid this area for the safety of all responders. The road is expected to re-open within the hour.
