TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO LICENCE SUSPENSION , LIQUOR AND DRUG CHARGES

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On October 11, 2014, just after 9:00 p.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers conducted a traffic stop on a Ford pickup truck on Highway 401 near Bloomfield Road, for a speeding violation.

Upon speaking with the driver, it was determined that he had been consuming alcoholic beverages. A roadside test was completed which resulted in a warn range suspension. The driver was served with a three day driver’s licence suspension.

Subsequent OPP investigation led to the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana and alcohol from the vehicle.

As a result, the driver, 62 year old Peter DAVIS, from Ancaster Township, has been charged with the following:

Possession of Marihuana, under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

Driving Motor Vehicle With Open Container Of Liquor, under the Liquor Licence Act

Speeding, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

The driver is scheduled to appear in a Chatham court on December 11, 2014, to answer to the charges.
