POLICE INVESTIGATE SINGLE MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION – DRIVER CHARGED

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment investigated a motor vehicle collision at a Windham Road 13, Windham, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Thursday, October 16, 2014 at approximately 8:03 p.m., Norfolk County OPP, Norfolk County Fire Services and Paramedics responded to a single motor vehicle collision.

Investigation has determined that a Black coloured pick-up truck was travelling northbound on Windham East Quarter Line Road. The vehicle continued through the intersection at Windham Road 13 and entered the north ditch striking a hydro pole. No injuries were reported as a result of the collision however power to various communities in Norfolk County was interrupted.

As a result of police investigation, 25 year old Joshua MURTLAND of Norfolk County, Ontario was charged with Careless Driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Hydro One has been notified and is currently on scene trying to restore power to all Norfolk County residents that have been affected.

East Quarter Line Road from Windham Road 14 to Harmony Road and Windham Road 13 from Highway 24 to Nixon Road will be closed for approximately 5 hours to allow emergency crews to replace the hydro pole and restore power lines.
