(PEMBROKE, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Child Sexual Exploitation Unit, the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Detachment and the United States Department of Homeland Security have arrested and charged a Pembroke man following an online child sexual exploitation investigation.
On October 10, 2014, OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit received information from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security that an unknown individual was attempting to make arrangements via the Internet to sexually abuse a child. Further OPP investigation lead to the execution of a search warrant at a Pembroke residence on October 12, 2014 in which electronic devices were seized containing images of child sexual abuse.
On October 12, 2014, police arrested Derek Clayton JOYCE, 37 years-old of Pembroke and charged him with one count of Possession of Child Pornography and one count of Making Arrangement or Agreement to Commit a Sexual Offence Against a Child. The accused will appear for a First Appearance in the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on November 4th, 2014.
The investigation is continuing.
