Ryan FERRANS – 158 in a 100

(NORWICH TOWNSHIP, ON.) – A member of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division has charged another high miler.

On October 22, 2014, police observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed westbound on Highway 403 in Norwich Township. The vehicle was travelling at a speed of 158km/h in a posted 100km/h zone. Based on the observations and investigative steps taken by the OPP officer, the driver, a 26 year old male of Mississauga has been charged.

Ryan FERRANS was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with the following:

Race a motor vehicle
Drive motor vehicle – no licence

Drivers who engage in high risk driving behavior put everyone at risk. Speeding makes it more difficult for drivers and pedestrians to react to changes, stop suddenly and control a vehicle. In the case of a collision, the higher the speed the more severe the collision and the more likely that serious injuries or death will occur.

OPP would like to remind the motoring public to manage their time and respect all the rules of the road when travelling.
