OPP SEEKING PUBLIC’S ASSISTANCE IN LOCATING VEHICLE AND DRIVER

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment is investigating an incident at a Highway 3, Charlotteville, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Thursday, October 23, 2014 at approximately 8:15 a.m., police received a call from a concerned member of the public after observing a motor vehicle fail to stop for a school bus that had all of its lights and stop sign activated. The vehicle passed on the right shoulder of the roadway colliding with a mailbox that was located at the end of a driveway.

The vehicle did not stop and continued eastbound on Highway 3.The vehicle is being described as a dark green or black Volkswagen.

The Norfolk County OPP is continuing to investigate this serious incident and is seeking the public’s assistance with this investigation. If anyone has any information they are being asked to contact the Norfolk County OPP.

The OPP want to remind all drivers that whether you’re on a city street, highway or county road, and regardless of the speed limit and the number of lanes, motorists travelling in both directions must stop when approaching a stopped school bus with its upper red lights flashing.

A flashing stop arm will swing out while passengers are boarding or leaving the bus. Once all passengers have boarded, the STOP arm will fold away. Do not start moving until the red lights have stopped flashing and the bus begins to move.
