(PORT HOPE, ON) – On November 1, 2014 at about 6:30pm a Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting radar enforcement on County Road 2. The officer stopped a vehicle for speeding and noted that the driver smelled of alcohol. The driver failed a roadside breath test, was arrested and taken to the Cobourg OPP detachment for further tests.
As a result of these tests, Brandon BATES age 22 of Port Hope is charged with the following offences:
1) Impaired Care & Control
2) Over 80mg
3) Breach of Probation X2
4) Speeding
BATES was held for a video remand hearing November 2, 2014.
The OPP would like to remind drivers that any amount of alcohol can impair one’s ability to drive. If you choose to drive, choose to be sober.
