(ADELAIDE METCALFE, ON) – Members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a crash on Highway 402 at approximately 9:12 a.m. on November 7, 2014.
A Chevrolet van travelling westbound in the inside lane on Highway 402 near Seed Road attempted to pass a loaded Freightliner transport truck, also travelling westbound in the outside lane.
The van struck the transport, and both vehicles left the roadway, each crashing into the grassy median.
The east bound lanes of Highway 402 between Kerwood Road and Centre Road had to be closed for approximately 3 hours to remove the van, the transport truck and its load of soybeans. The lanes have been re-opened.
The driver of the transport, a 42 year old male from Southwold, Ontario, was not injured. The driver of the van, a 50 year old female from London, Ontario, was not injured. She has been charged with careless driving.
Middlesex County OPP reminds all motorists to slow down, and drive with extra care and attention, as weather and road conditions can be unpredictable, and challenging at this time of year.
