(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) deployed a spike belt and successfully ended a suspect apprehension pursuit on Friday August 16.
Officers were conducting an investigation in Arnprior and a female driver operating a Montana Van fled from officers on Highway 417 eastbound towards Ottawa. Several fully marked cruisers attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver refused to stop. Officers deployed a spike belt at Highway 417 at the Richardson Side Rd overpass. The tires deflated on the vehicle and the driver struck another vehicle before coming to rest in the ditch. The suspect was then taken into custody. The driver of the suspect vehicle and the driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries.
The investigation is continuing.
