SEARCH FOR ESCAPED PRISONER CONTINUES

(KENORA, ON) – Members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Treaty Three Police are continuing the search for a prisoner who escaped from custody on Tuesday, August 20, 2013. 53 year old Harvey SMITH of White Dog First Nation escaped custody while being moved from the Kenora Court House on Water Street. SMITH has subsequently been charged with Escape Lawful Custody and an arrest warrant has been issued for him.

On Saturday, August 24, 2013 approximately 10 pm members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended in the area of Ninth Street North regarding a motor vehicle collision between a truck towing a boat and a car. Investigation into the incident revealed that the driver of the car had been drinking. He was arrested and returned to the OPP detachment. 40 year old Kenneth MCAMMOND of Kenora has been charged with impaired driving. He will attend court in Kenora on October 3, 2013 to answer to the charge.
