David Troy COLLINS and Troy BEST – Break and Enter With Violence

(COLBORNE, ON) On August 30, 2013 Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended to a Colborne, Ontario residence to investigate a break and enter with violence that had occurred in the early evening of August 29, 2013.

OPP officers went to the Church Street East residence in Colborne where a male victim reported that sometime between 7:30 and 8:00 pm on Thursday August 29, two males had come to his residence. He opened to the door as he believed to know the one male as a family friend.

The victim was immediately grabbed by the throat and shoved inside. A struggle ensued between the two men while the third male turned over living room furniture. The victim managed to get the suspect off of him and push him out of the residence. One male suspect presented a knife to the victim prior to leaving the property indicating a death threat to him before both male suspects fled from the scene. The victim received minor injuries to his neck but did not seek medical attention.

Northumberland OPP Crime Unit members were called in to assist with this investigation and as a result two men have been arrested.

David Troy COLLINS, 46 from Brighton, Ontario has been charged with one count each of break and enter dwelling house with intent to commit an indictable offence, assault with a weapon and utter threat to cause death or bodily harm under the Criminal Code.

Troy BEST, 26 from Colborne, Ontario has been charged with one count of break and enter dwelling house with intent to commit and indictable offence under the Criminal Code.

Both accused were released on a promise to appear and an undertaking given to an officer in charge scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice on Wednesday September 25, 2013 at 9:30 am in Cobourg, Ontario.
