(GOGAMA) The Gogama Ontario Provincial Police has arrested and charged a Timmins man stemming from a routine traffic stop of an off road vehicle on Hwy 144 in the Gogama area on September 14th
While patrolling the area, an Ontario Provincial Police officer had occasion to observe an off road vehicle being driven on Hwy 144 by a driver who was not wearing a helmet.
The driver was stopped and interviewed at the roadside.
Based on the observations made by the OPP officer, the driver was required to complete on site breath tests.
Based on the outcome of those tests, the driver was arrested and brought to the OPP detachment for Intoxilyzer breath test procedures.
As a result of the investigative steps taken by the OPP, Jason BERTRAND, 38, of Timmins, Ontario, has been charged with:
Operate Motor Vehicle – While Impaired contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
Operate Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Mgs of Alcohol contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
Unlawfully Drive an Off-Road Vehicle on a Highway contrary to the Off Road Vehicles Act
Fail to Wear Proper Helmet contrary to the Off Road Vehicles Act
Operate Off Road Vehicle – No Insurance contrary to the Off Road Vehicles Act
Operate Motor Vehicle With Open Container of Liquor contrary to the Liquor Licence Act
Fail To Surrender Driver’s Licence contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
He was released from police custody on a Promise to Appear requiring him to attend Provincial Court in Gogama on November 25th , 2013, to answer to the charges laid against him.
