2 Vehicle Collision – 19 Year Old Runs Stop Sign

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – On September 14, 2013 at 11:51 a.m. Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended the intersection of Gore Road and Shaw Road in the Municipality of Thames Centre to investigate a two vehicle collision.

The police investigation revealed a black Nissan car travelling eastbound on Gore Road proceeded through the intersection while turning right onto Shaw Road into the path of a southbound Chevrolet pickup and the vehicles collided. The pickup veered into a ditch as a result of the collision. There were no injuries.

As a result of the investigation, police issued the male driver, De TILAK, age 19 of Mississauga with a Provincial Offences Notice for Disobey Stop Sign under the Highway Traffic Act.

The Middlesex OPP continues every day to focus on the “big four” risk behaviours which include aggressive driving, distracted driving, impaired driving, and occupants not wearing safety restraints. These are the leading causes of injuries and deaths on Ontario roads. The OPP will continue to use both enforcement and education to help curb the rise of accidents and the unnecessary loss of life.
