(OXFORD COUNTY, ON.) Members with the Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.), Highway Safety division and the O.P.P. Aircraft Enforcement Unit conducted aerial surveillance for speed enforcement on Highway 401 in Oxford County.
On September 14, 2013, members observed a black Honda Civic travelling Westbound on Highway 401, at a speed of 161 km/h in a posted 100km/h zone. Based on the observations and investigative steps taken by the O.P.P. officer, the driver, a 23 year old male from Brampton has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act.
Mikhail KIDD was charged with Drive Motor Vehicle-Perform Stunt-Speeding by 50 or more kilometres under the Highway Traffic Act.
The vehicle has been impounded for the prescribed 7-day period and his driver’s license is suspended for 7 days.
Drivers who engage in high risk driving behavior put everyone at risk. Speeding makes it more difficult for drivers to react to changes, stop suddenly and control a vehicle. In the case of a collision, the higher the speed the more severe the collision and the more likely that serious injuries or death will occur.
O.P.P. would like to remind the motoring public to manage their time and respect all the rules of the road when travelling.
