(SMITHS FALLS, ON) On the 17th of September 2013 Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Rideau Lakes Township received a call regarding a break in to the Hydro One Yard on Eric Hutcheson Rd. in Rideau Lakes Township.
OPP attended the scene and learned that sometime overnight on the 16th of September 2013, culprits entered the yard by a locked side gate.
Once inside culprits entered 4 Hydro One trucks that were parked in the yard. They then proceeded to take numerous tools from the trucks.
OPP Identification Unit attended the scene and gathered evidence for examination.
Then on the 18th of September 2013 at around 8:00 a.m. O.P.P received a call regarding a second break in to the Hydro One yard on Eric Hutcheson Rd in Rideau Lakes Township.
O.P.P. attended the scene and their investigation revealed that sometime between 5:40 p.m. on the 17th of September 2013 and 6:00 am on the 18th of September 2013, culprits entered the Hydro One yard by a locked side gate.
Once inside they removed a large coil of copper cable valued at around $8000.
The investigations are ongoing at this time.
